How to Use Time Blocking to Amp Up Your Productivity

It's been a long day and you've been working on about a thousand and one projects all at the same time all day long. And when you finally quit work you notice that you don't really feel like you've gotten as much done today as you thought you were in the moment.

That's because multitasking has been proven to be an ineffective way of working. And it actually slows down production.

In today's episode we are talking about the what I like to think of as the opposite of multi-tasking: time blocking. Find out what it is, why it's effective, and why you absolutely need it for your business (and your sanity).

In today's episode:

  • What is time-blocking, why it’s so effective, and why you absolutely need to be doing it in your business.
  • How to decide what your time-blocked schedule should look like.
  • Why I only do client work on certain days and why you should too.
  • The app that makes it so easy to schedule everything within my new schedule -- Acuity Scheduling*.

As promised in the episode, here's my current time-blocked schedule that I'm working off of.

And if you'd like to give using a scheduler app, I highly recommend Acuity Scheduling*. It's my absolute favorite for some many reasons - in fact, I'll probably do an episode just on why I love Acuity Scheduling over all the other scheduler apps out there.

Today's Permission Slip:

Each episode I give you a permission slip - a reminder to give yourself permission to run your business and live your dream life on your own terms. Today's is to give yourself permission to quit multitasking. To focus on one task at a time and to give that task your full attention.
